How Carnival and partners turned a major cruise line into one big connected device.

In this article, IoT Evolution editor Ken Briodagh covers how Carnival and its development partners including TE2 are creating an interactive guest experience platform. As IoT continues to expand into the ever-growing network of objects that have an IP address for connectivity, and the communication between other devices and systems, now an entire ship is operating in real time on the open sea. TE2 participated in key portions of the platform with an emphasis on core identification, data orchestration, legacy systems integration and industrialization services.

TE2’s Orchestration Layer provides the back-end software that collects data and content and processes events needed to power experiences.  The Orchestration layer extends the value of existing systems of record (for example CMS, loyalty, ticketing, POS, etc.) as well as integrates with third party IoT platforms and proximity-based networks. The result is a dramatic reduction in the operational cost to develop a scalable and flexible architecture necessary to launch and run experiences.
